Safe Moving of People (SMP)
This course is ideal for those who must transport, move or handle people and objects within their day-to-day work environments.
This course provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in the principles of manual handling whether it’s moving people and objects.
Designed with novices and professionals in mind this course equips learners with the knowledge and skill to safely and effectively transport and move people and objects.

- Manual Handling and Health and Safety Laws
- Employer duties.
- Employee duties.
- The Spinal cord and it’s functions.
- Communicating safety information.
- Working as an effective Team
- Procedures for dealing with an incident involving hazards and moving.
- Inspection and Maintenace of equipment.
- Transfer Boards, Hoists, Mangars, and Sit to stand.
- Unsafe lifting practice.
- Individual handling plans of people.
Assesments:
The practical Learning Outcomes are assessed by observation.
- MultiChoice Questions (MCQ) for theory and underpinning knowledge.
- The Practical demonstration of skills including knowledge individual equipment functionality.
To be awarded this qualification the Learner must 100% pass of the assessments carried out by observation together with a percentage pass in the MCQ paper.
Refresher training is recommended every year.
